The short answer
Independent Food & Beverage Insurance Brokers is a specialty insurance brokerage for restaurants, taverns, bars, nightclubs, lounges and social clubs. We have placed this class of risk since 1993, and more than 80% of our clients are in the restaurant and tavern industry.
Our niche is venues with entertainment: live music, DJs, dance floors and late-night hours, including accounts other companies decline.
What we do
We are a brokerage, not a carrier. We market your account to multiple insurance companies after reviewing your exposure and risk, then compare the offers on coverage structure as well as premium. The lines we place for food and beverage operators are:
- General Liability, for injuries to customers on premises and off
- Liquor Liability, for dram shop exposure
- Assault and Battery, also called fight coverage
- Commercial Property, for fire, wind, lightning and water damage
- Commercial Crime, for theft, burglary, robbery and forgery
- Employment Practices Liability, including wrongful termination and harassment
- Workers' Compensation, for kitchen, delivery and front-of-house injuries
- Insurance Policy Audits, to make sure you are paying the right premium
The venues we write
We specialize in bars, taverns and pubs; nightclubs and lounges; social clubs, posts and lodges; live music and entertainment venues; sports bars; beach and waterfront bars; college-area bars; and restaurants with a substantial bar.
That focus is deliberate. Entertainment venues carry the assault and battery, late-hours and liquor exposure most agencies would rather avoid, and it is the part of this business we know best.
Our success in New Jersey, now here to help Florida
Thirty-three years in New Jersey. Today we insure hundreds of restaurants, bars and clubs across the state. When we tell an owner we write the tavern two towns over, they usually know the place.
Florida is where we are growing now. Our Boca Raton office is open year round, we are active with the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association, and we have placed and re-marketed Florida venues from Leon County to Brevard County to Palm Beach.
Collective wisdom
The phrase came from a client at the Jersey Shore, who said what we bring to the table is collective wisdom. We made it our mission. Michael Sabino started in this industry in 1984 at nineteen years old, rating policies and handling claims before he ever sold one, and he still takes a hands-on approach with every account.
